Customised Training for International Students
Guest Lectures and Interactive Workshops for Students
While the majority of the training Jackfruit Marketing offers is geared toward a B2B professional audience, our founder and director Jackie Kassteen also acts as a guest lecturer and conducts half-day sessions for international students. She covers a variety of topics such as leadership, career development, entrepreneurship, marketing and international business.
Students are at the heart of what we do, so Jackie relishes any opportunity to connect with them. These sessions are particularly enriched by her unique background which includes CELTA training, previous teaching experience, and knowledge gained from living and working in eight countries across a variety of organisational sizes and structures.
You can bring Jackie in to speak to your students for a short and snappy guest lecture, a few hours, or several full days delivered back-to-back or periodically throughout the duration of your programme.
Her presentations always include a balance of both instruction and interactive, dialogue-led working groups. Classes are specifically designed to allow students to discuss and practice what they're learning, and include plenty of opportunities for feedback to help them overcome obstacles and challenges.
Jackfruit Marketing offers training sessions on location for institutions, companies and organisations.
Our flexibility enables us to come straight to you, or we can provide training online, which broadens learning opportunities for students anywhere in the world.
In providing this personal service, Jackie is also able to customise the content according to your organisation's strengths, challenges, needs and goals.
One of the schools that Jackie visits every year is IH London, which runs a fantastic Future Leaders Programme in the spring and summer. International students form groups and work on various projects over two weeks. For example, they learn how to create a social enterprise and they form their own companies, ultimately pitching their business concept Dragon's Den-style to a panel of judges.
Jackie has been appearing as a guest lecturer for several years, teaching and guiding international students ranging from age 14 to 17. Here's a few comments that some of the students shared after Jackie's visits.
"The way she spoke was absolutely incredible and it was very helpful for our business, because we considered some things we weren’t considering before. And it was so entertaining, I didn’t get distracted for any moment. Thank you!"
"I really liked her presentation. It made me think about other creative ways of finding solutions and gave great ideas for our project."
"One thing that stood out was that if you never give up, you will succeed. I learned how to be persistent."
"She knew how to keep things interesting! I also liked the motivation she gave me to continue and to be a better person!"
"I like her attitude and the way she motivates us and shows us how to overcome obstacles that may set you back throughout your business and even your life."
"I like the way she talks to us and explains things, and encourages us to think bigger. This helps me to plan my future."
"I was thinking about opening a business after high school, and I never thought of some things she mentioned."
"This special lecture told me that I should be more curious. And I want to be a leader who can devote my skills to others."
"I really like this lesson because the stories she told were very interesting. It also teaches me how to be more successful and never give up. It faces me to reality."
"I want to congratulate her for an amazing lecture. I’ve been on a lot of lectures about business and different TEDx talks, and I have to admit that this was one of the best ones. She joined us in the conversation many times and I loved the format. Even though the lecture was a little bit long, it wasn’t boring (and this is something that I really appreciate). I know how hard is it to hold people's attention for a long time."
Interactive Training Workshops for Students and Teenagers
Jackfruit Marketing has designed a series of interactive workshops especially for international students (approximately 14-17 years old) who are preparing for post-secondary education, an international career, or entrepreneurship.
Jacqueline's presentations always include a balance of both instruction and engaging, dialogue-led working groups. Classes are specifically designed to allow students to discuss and practice what they're learning, and include plenty of opportunities for feedback to help them overcome obstacles and challenges.
Life Beyond University:
What Does it Take to Succeed?
This interactive 3-hour workshop walks students through a personal life plan to help them discover various leadership styles as well as 21st century skills to build upon, and how to get started in a career as an employee or entrepreneur. Jackie reviews various aspects of launching and running a business to help students decide if entrepreneurship is right for them. In addition, since students are working on their budding business projects, Jackie covers the foundation components of a business plan such as developing a mission statement and aligning actions with company values. She also helps students shape their business models, product or service offering, and decide which markets to enter.
Essential Ingredients in a Strong Business Plan and Marketing Strategy
Many programmes challenge students to create their own business as part of their group projects. Jackie’s interactive 3-hour workshop covers advanced components of a business plan such as identifying potential customers and markets as well as conducting a SWOT analysis. Through examples and hands-on exercises, she also reviews building customer personas, branding, marketing, storytelling and customer service. This workshop is a perfect follow-up session to the previous one, as it enables Jackie to dive deeper into the students’ projects and prepare the groups for their final presentations.
Developing Your Personal Brand: Creating Confident Leaders
This interactive 3-hour workshop helps students identify the type of leaders they want to be and pinpoint the skills and personality traits that set them apart. Through a variety of techniques and examples, students will dive into 21st century skills and craft their own personal brand. In addition, they will put their brand into practise through mock presentations and interviews for university admissions or jobs.
Additional Training Topics for International Students and Young Adults
